because the Moon has a lover before. His name is Kuekuetsu. They are really happy being together, in the spirit world.There is a guy named Trixter who jealous to Kuekuetsu because he cant win Moon's heart. Trixter lied to Kuekuetsu, telling him that Moon want to have a flower that can only be picked up on earth. Because of his love to the Moon, Kuekuetsu go down to earth to pick up the flower for her, without knowing that he can't come back to spirit world once he go down to earth.
Since then, he howl the Moon every night, with all the feel of missing and he never can touch her again.
& the love remains..
Kuekuetsu means Wolverine.
